Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce Personal Insurance PlanIn 2008, the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce launched a member-to-member benefit program in which members of the Chamber could give discounts and other benefits to fellow members. The goal was to increase and promote membership in this leading business organization. As a Chamber member for many years, Johnston & Mackie Limited seized this opportunity to create a group insurance program that would serve as a benefit to Chamber members, their employees and immediate families. In the Fall of 2008, Johnston & Mackie Limited, along with the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce, launched the Chamber Personal Insurance Plan – the first group insurance option to be designed and provided by a local brokerage. The Plan focuses on home and auto insurance and is made available to Chamber business owners, their spouses and dependent children, as well as employees of the business, their spouses and dependent children. The Plan is also available to retirees of the business. A group plan allows for discounted rates and convenient payment plans. Having the Plan managed by licensed local brokers allows for 24-hour claim assistance and the creation of individual policies. In addition, there are no interest charges or service charges. In October 2007, it was announced that Mary Hill, president of Johnston & Mackie Limited, was honoured among all business leaders in the Upper Ottawa Valley as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for business. In celebration of that recognition, Johnston & Mackie is pleased to give back to the Chamber with a Plan that protects business in this community by insuring them and their employees.
